UCSF Neurosurgery Ranks #1 in NIH Funding

For the 16th consecutive year, UCSF has been ranked the #1 neurosurgery program for NIH funding. UCSF Neurosurgery faculty members Edward Chang, MD, Krystof Bankiewicz, MD, PhD, Mitchel Berger, MD, Philip Starr, MD, PhD, and Susan Chang, MD, were also among the top 20 highest funded Principal Investigators for a neurosurgery program.

The Department's rich basic and clinical science research programs span multiple subspecialties and include over 30 laboratories. From developing open-source technology platforms for a new generation of neurostimulation devices to bringing new immunotherapy strategies for brain tumors  to clinical trials, researchers at UCSF not only continue to push the field of neuroscience forward every day but also translate those findings to improved patient care.
