SDR Surgery Improves Micah's Life by Leaps and Bounds

Micah Biard was diagnosed with spastic diplegia as a toddler and it caused him to wobble when he walked. As he got older, he was afraid to go up and down stairs because he was so unstable. Micah came to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital and underwent a selective dorsal rhizotomy, a procedure that cuts away select nerves that cause the spasticity. After weeks of rehabilitation, Micah now trots up stairs as well as walks and runs with confidence.
