Donate to Pediatric Neurosurgical Care and Research
At UCSF, we understand the concerns that accompany the diagnosis of a child’s neurological disorder.
Every child in our care receives the benefit of a team of experts and the best possible treatment plan. These plans are designed to support each of our young patients and their family members throughout the experience.
Thanks to advances in imaging techniques and diagnostic testing, many birth defects can be detected and treated before a child is born. UCSF was the first institution to develop fetal surgery techniques and is the world leader in fetal diagnosis and therapy using surgery and endoscopic techniques. The surgeons of the UCSF Fetal Treatment Center pioneered minimally invasive, closed-uterus surgical procedures using endoscopic techniques for several life-threatening congenital conditions, and now offer prenatal treatment with this technique for other serious birth defects, including spina bifida.
Our top-ranked pediatric neurosurgeons and neuro-oncologists have specialty training that has prepared them to treat the most complex disorders that can affect a child’s brain and spinal cord. Because neurological illness and injury in young patients require very special technology and training, we care for them in the UCSF Children’s Hospital, a regional resource with a national reputation.
