Epilepsy is one of the most common disorders of the nervous system, affecting more than 2.7 million Americans of all ages. At the UCSF Epilepsy Surgery Program — Northern California’s first comprehensive epilepsy surgery program — we understand what it means to live with epilepsy, and we are committed to finding the keys that will unlock the mysteries of this disease.

Our expert researchers are working to answer these questions and others. We seek new insights into the basic neurobiology and genetic basis of seizures. Our mission is to offer new treatment options and new hope for patients with epilepsy so that they can enjoy improved quality of life.
