Research Teaching Activities

Residents' Research Conference. In this monthly conference, residents receive exposure to current research at UCSF.

Seminar on Evidence-Based Medicine. This bimonthly program, open at present to Neuro-Oncology fellows and Neurosurgery residents, is held with the purpose of teaching trainees how to read the medical and scientific literature critically, thereby increasing their ability to better evaluate the literature and to provide an introduction to clinical research methodology and statistics for those conducting their own clinical research projects.

Research Guidelines. The Department encourages good research practices according to USPHS guidelines through seminars and its educational Guidelines on Research Data and Reports. These guidelines were developed by the BTRC and have been reprinted in books on research integrity published by the National Academy Press and Cambridge University Press, and have been cited by the Association of American Medical Colleges.
