Dr. Doris Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UCSF. Dr. Wang’s clinical interest is treating movement disorders using neuromodulation and ablative procedures. Her research focus is to study the neural architecture of human motor skill learning using an implanted, bidirectional DBS device and develop targeted, closed-loop therapies to restore motor skill learning in patients with brain diseases and injuries.

Dr. Wang completed her undergraduate studies in biology at Yale University, and her medical and doctoral degrees at UCSF. She completed her neurosurgery residency training at UCSF in 2017, where she developed an interest in functional neurosurgery. Following residency, Dr. Wang completed a one-year fellowship in Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery at UCSF under the guidance of Dr. Philip Starr, where she studied human network physiology of movement disorders.
