Shirley Stiver MD, PhD
Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery
Principal Investigator, Brain and Spinal Injury Center (BASIC)
Dr. Stiver is a clinician scientist whose research interests are committed to the study of blood vessels in neurological disease processes. She is particularly interested in understanding the properties of new blood vessel growth (cerebral angiogenesis) during many types of brain injury, including head trauma, stroke, and brain tumor formation. Dr. Stiver has subspecialty training in cerebrovascular neurosurgery, and her clinical practice at San Francisco General Hospital is focused mainly on cerebrovascular and traumatic central nervous system injury.
