Dr. Oberheim Bush is a neuro-oncologist involved in clinical care, clinical research, and teaching. She has a PhD neuroscience as well as training in clinical trial development, implementation and analysis. As a member of the Division of Neuro-Oncology at UCSF, she has been involved in investigator-initiated, sponsored and multi-institutional consortium studies. Her specific research interests are in the development of phase I clinical trials testing novel treatment strategies for brain tumor patients. She is currently developing a surgically based phase I clinical trial of an inducible adenoviral vector engineered to express hIL-12 in the presence of the activator ligand Veledimex in patients with recurrent high-grade gliomas. She has also been involved in the development of an antagomir of mircoRNA-138 as a novel therapeutic for recurrent glioblastoma through the design of pre-clinical laboratory experiments in collaboration with several basic science laboratories at UCSF as well as with the Agency of Science, Technology and Research in Singapore.
